These blanks have a surface that is perfectly smooth and polished, referred to as a “Class A” finish. If a particular texture or pattern is desired on the finished blank, it can be incorporated into the mold surface, allowing for infinite variations. Plastic resins are mixed together along with pigments to create any custom color requirements. We then begin production in our molding machines. The heated plastic is injected into the molds, filling all of the empty spaces. It is then rapidly cooled to a solid state, the mold is opened and the blanks are removed.

As the finished blanks come off the line they are inspected for defects and voids. Then they are either diverted to the paint shop, if necessary, or hand trimmed to remove any excess plastic. The trimmings are recycled back into the resin mix, reducing waste and cost.

Painting
In most instances the casings do not need painting because we mix color into the plastic resin during the molding process. If the casings do need to be painted, we wait until the casings have cooled, then mix the paint to customer specifications and spray paint the casings on racks. Then we hand trim them to remove any excess plastic and retouch them if necessary.
